About 50 young women have received intensive training in broiler production under the Harnessing Agriculture Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program, a collaborative initiative between the Mastercard Foundation and Agri-Impact Limited.  The trainees, mobilized by the National Service Authority (NSA), gathered at the NSA Farm in Papao, Haatso, for an intensive session on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

As part of efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the National Service Authority’s (NSA) role in the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program, a strategic meeting was held with the leadership of Agri-Impact Limited, a leading agribusiness firm.

Fresh Logistics recently hosted a high-level delegation from Demeter Ghana Limited, one of its agro-input suppliers, at its Dawhenya facility, strengthening ties for innovation in vegetable greenhouse production.

Demeter Ghana Limited is one of Ghana’s leading agricultural input and specialist service providers, trading nationwide in fertilizers, seeds, bio-protection products, inoculants, soil conditioners, and more.

The Chief Executive Officer of Agri-Impact Limited, Mr. Daniel Fahene Acquaye, has raised concerns over the budgetary allocation to the agricultural sector in the 2025 national budget saying it is very insufficient.

Speaking at the 2025 Budget Digest organized by PwC in Accra, he complained that the current allocation is inadequate to drive the economic transformation envisioned by the government.

If you look at the budget allocation, you’ll realize that out of a total budget of approximately 279 billion Ghana Cedis for this year, only 1.5 billion Cedis is allocated to agriculture. When you examine the budget as presented by the Honorable Minister of Finance, one of the key drivers of the economy is the introduction of the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA), which is anchored in agriculture. Now, if you aim to transform the economy but allocate only 0.54% of your budget to the sector responsible for that transformation, the economy will inevitably rest on weak anchors.

A high-profile delegation from  vegetable breeding and  seed production giants — Rijk Zwaan and Holland Greentech– led by Mr. Edwin Johannes Maria Vanderklugt, Business Manager for the Middle East and West Africa, visited Fresh Logistics’ greenhouse farms at Dawhenya near Prampram in Accra on February 17, 2025.

A comprehensive training session on meat processing, food safety, and biosecurity was held at the Aglow Poultry Processing Facility for participants of the HAPPY Broiler Project. The training aimed to equip them with scientific knowledge and skills essential for their roles within the facility.

In just one year, the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program has become a beacon of hope for thousands of young Ghanaians, proving that agriculture can be a transformative career path.
 
Rolled out in December 2023, this four-year initiative by the Mastercard Foundation in partnership with Agri-Impact Limited and a consortium of eight partners has facilitated dignified, fulfilling work opportunities for over 94,000 young people across Ghana’s agricultural sector within a year. 

The second cohort of the HAPPYTech Ambassadors Training has commenced under the HAPPY Project. 

The training, initiated by the Mastercard Foundation in partnership with Agri-Impact Limited, is to equip participants with skills in digital agriculture, innovation, and collaboration.

As part of efforts to enhance the staff capacity of Agri-Impact Group, two employees of Fresh Logistics, a subsidiary of the leading agribusiness firm, participated in the 12th edition of the Rijk Zwaan Afrisem Limited International Field Days 2025, held in Usa River, Arusha, Tanzania.  

Prince Kofi Boateng, Production Manager at Fresh Logistics, and Francis Awumee, Enterprise Development Officer, represented the company at the event from January 21 to 24, 2025.

Spearheading this transformation is the E-HAPPY Project, a collaboration between Mastercard Foundation and Agri Impact Limited, with KNUST E-Learning Centre and iSchool Consult as implementing partners, now in its second cohort. 

The Annual HAPPY Learning Event took place last week in Sunyani, Bono Region, to review the first-year achievements and challenges of the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program.

Priscilla Arthur, a young woman with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Procurement and Supply Chain, has secured a position as a stock officer through the Mastercard Foundation’s Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program, in partnership with Agri-Impact Limited.

A joint team from the Mastercard Foundation and Agri-Impact Limited visited implementation sites of the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program in Bono, Ashanti, and Greater Accra regions in September 2024.

The e-HAPPY project is poised to revolutionize the agricultural sector, empowering youth with cutting-edge skills and expertise to drive growth, productivity, and prosperity.

Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) program, an initiative of Mastercard Foundation in collaboration with Agri-Impact Limited and 8 other implementing partners, aims to unlock agri-enterprise opportunities in production, mechanisation services, processing, e-commerce, agri-journalism, agri-influencers, agripreneurship, and youth-led digital technologies.
