President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, September 12, 2025, visited the National Service Authority’s poultry farm at Papao, Haatso in Accra.
The visit offered the President an opportunity to gain first-hand information about the Authority’s poultry facility and the impressive work being carried out there.
In his remarks, President Mahama announced that procurement processes were already underway to establish multiple poultry processing facilities across the country, with the National Service Authority expected to benefit from these facilities.
He further pledged his support to help the Authority set up a feed mill to sustain the Papao project and to position the NSA Papao Poultry Hub as a model farm for West Africa.
The National Service Authority is one of eight partners implementing the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Program, an initiative of the Mastercard Foundation in partnership with Agri-Impact Limited.
The HAPPY Program aims to engage 326,000 youth—70% of them women and persons with disabilities—aged 15 to 35, in the poultry, tomato, rice, and soybean value chains across Ghana.
Before the four-year program commenced in December 2023, the NSA Papao facility had a capacity of only 2,000 birds. With support from the HAPPY Program, the facility can now accommodate up to 100,000 birds.
