The Africa Strategy of the Netherlands (2023 - 2032), published in May 2023, highlights an integrated vision of political and economic cooperation across Africa anchored on equality, reduce poverty, improve respect for human rights and limit irregular migration. In the next decade, the Netherlands intend to strengthen its trade partnerships, investments as well as development and humanitarian funding in all 54 countries across the continent.
Agriculture, agro-processing and agribusiness are sectors which offer real economic, development and livelihood transformation potential when properly harnessed. The Youth in Greenhouse Enterprise Project (YuGEP) is a youth-centred project that models how strategic partnership, investment and technical support combines to actualise the potentials in the agricultural sector.
On 6th of April 2023, Mr. William Obeng (Head of projects, Ghana EXIM BANK) and Mr. Daniel Fahene Acquaye (CEO, Agri-Impact Group) engaged the Ambassador of Netherlands and other top executives on key issues centred on collaboration, partnership and investment to enhance competitiveness, resilience and boost private sector inclusiveness in the agricultural sector in Ghana. Specific areas of interest discussed includes Youth Enterprise Support, Trade Development, Agricultural Research, Innovation and Technology as well as Capacity Building.
Present at the occassion to receive the CEO and his entourage were the Deputy Ministers of Agriculture from the Netherlands and the Director of Public Affairs at the embassy.
