ASNAPP undertakes commodity supply chain analyses to identify gaps and potential crop clusters for intervention and work with farmer groups/organization and the private sector to establish viable natural products enterprises. Analysis includes, but not limited to, economic analysis of production and marketing of identified plant products, identification and implementing a team approach to supply chain and commercialization issues, setting benchmarks and indicators regarding project results, getting target population ownership in the project and establishing working relationship with private sector partners.
A key objective is the sustainable commercialization of natural products whilst assuring food security. Using intercropping models and cropping cycles, communities are supported to incorporate natural products into their existing production and income generating activities to ensure year-round income generation. This also helps beneficiaries diversify away from risk and overreliance on traditional sources of income especially as natural products tend to be higher value and more rewarding.
