Strategic partnership is an enabler to scale agribusiness projects that provide decent and sustainable jobs for youth. This was part of the key issues discussed along side technology, startup financing, market and capacity building at the visit of nine EU Councillors to the Dawenhya Greenhouse Village on the 24th of May, 2023.
Hon. Brian Acheampong, Minister of Food and Agriculture, applauded Agri-Impact Group for championing the use of greenhouse technology in tackling food insecurity and post harvest loss in Ghana amidst issues on climate change experienced around the world. He said this during his tour of the Dawhenya YuGEP enclave which is the largest of the greenhouse vegetable production enclave in Ghana.
The minister encouraged the Group to expand its capacity building activities to cover a wider range of the youth towards the improvement of Ghana’s transformative agribusiness agenda.
Griffonia simplicifolia plant is found principally in the West African countries of Ghana, Ivory Coast and Togo. The plant is adapted to wide range of agro climatic conditions. It is common in the coastal plains as well as secondary forest. It thrives well on termite hills and on mountain slopes.

ASNAPP also engages various government institutions to ensure a holistic approach towards the development of the industry.This is done by participating in and leading various agricultural policy formulation discussions and work groups. ASNAPP does feature prominently in the media on topical issues concerning the NPP and horticultural sub-sectors. It has also come out with a quarterly newsletter that is distributed to its partners as well as key stakeholders in the industry.
This is achieved by continuously providing distinctive services to graduates, youth and women to build their technical, managerial and vocational capacities to fit into agricultural value chains, job markets and business opportunities. ASNAPP provides an "on-the-job" internship programme where graduates (Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges), youth and women are placed with firms to acquire hands-on, vocational and managerial skills to become Entrepreneurs, Employable or Employers (BEEE).
Research activities span ethno-botanical surveys, germplasm collection and improvements, gene bank establishment, agronomic trials, appropriate harvesting and product handling systems, processing and value addition. Findings and technologies are disseminated through on-site technology transfers and hands-on training sessions. Taught courses have also been developed and are being offered in leading partner universities and students carry out research work to expand the knowledge base on natural plants.
A combination of formal, conferences, workshops, seminars, and informal on-site practical training sessions is employed to disseminate information, technologies and build capacity across the industry. Materials used for the training are simplified versions (training brochures) of research work done with our partner institutions. These trainings are given to industry actors along the supply chain to help them streamline their operations, including building their capacity to improve product quality, mobilization and marketing.
